QUERUBINSHAIN

This 2020 drawing by Melanio Zapata depicts an apparent harmless angelic youth, with a baby face in the body of an obviously spoiled child, as can be seen by his baroque clothing.

Although we don’t know his age, it is evidently clear that the fancy pacifier does not fit.

The phrase NO ANGELS IN HELL is the complement that shows that the inoffensive-looking boy is actually not… a wolf in sheep’s clothing.

EMPELICULAO

Inspired in the painting of 2019 by artist Melanio Zapata, it is an Epiphany, a visual construction that simultaneously projects the notions of pleasure, (the natural sensuality of everything that is beautiful, exotic and desirable), with that of a fatal and imminent premonitory feeling of mortal danger that stalks the route of the brief space that separates us from the place where that Eden lives that is offered in front of us, very close!

EL AHUIZOTE

El Ahuizote was the name of the most courageous prominent, radical and humorous opposition newspaper in Mexico in the XIX century. Its logo depicted a cartoon of fallen angel with a trident pinching EL AHUIZOTE to show it to the public.

The slogan “A fierce weekly newspaper, yet with nice feelings.” was placed below.
